"Read them fairy tales"

"A half-century ago a young engineer named Jack Kilby first demonstrated an integrated circuit he designed while working through the summer at his Texas Instruments job because he didn't have enough vacation time for a holiday."

I love the last line (his quote) in the article.

Wow, David. I guess an inventor is a special kind of scientist. Kilby needed mathematical theories but he also need creativity. What a precious combination.

The quote about fairy tales is astounding. All I can do is look back at my days of parenting and teaching. And fairy tales, the original Grimms stories in particular, can be very dark, and scary for children.

It prompts me to go back and read them again, this time from Kilby's perspective.

Once again, your blog has made me curious and given me something new. Thanks.
